With and Without You

The memories of that night are still safe and sound in my heart.
Every second passing by was tearing me apart.
There was silence in the room, as our hearts did the talking,
we were trying to steal glances as our souls were shamelessly gawking.

As you bent to pick my scarf our hands slightly brushed,
something deep in my heart was again disturbed.
You smiled to ease the situation,
how could you smirk when I was full of frustration.
It was the longest night of my life,
every passing second pierced my heart like a sharp knife.
I wanted to hold you so desperately,
how could you just sit there and look so lovely.

As you got up, my heart skipped a beat,
how could you leave when you were the one who made me complete.
Your dreamy eyes became wet,
I recalled the day when we first met.

I tried to search something in your eyes,
I got lost in the sea of truth and lies.
Our love was eternal,
how and when did it become so infernal?
You uttered just one word that night,
All my dreams got shattered as you slowly went away out of sight.
