Wistful Oblivion

Just a glance sparked a fire of love that burned so pristine
As a farm-girl fell for a handsome farm-hand of her dream.
Love blossomed like early Spring, though both were married,
A romantic desire flamed spirits as love-affair quickly rallied.

Families broke apart as forbidden love soon got them fired,
In an act of defiance they stayed strong, eminently inspired.
A farm of their own arose from the ashes of evident despair,
Business gallantly prospered through hard work and prayer.

Luck turned as her husband was struck by incurable disease,
His ex-wife, a nurse, assisted as they buckled at the knees.
The farm-girl, discouraged, but unwilling to surrender hope,
Sought help from ex-husband to manage the farm and cope.

With awakened heart, nurse soon rekindled their passion
And patient gladly accepted, regretful of his past action.
Farm grew immensely when farm-girl took up the cause
And ex-husband moved close to her, into a farmhouse.

Lives turned upside down as suddenly sick husband died,
Amid her grief, farm-girl pondered what fate has implied.
She imagined her life with ex-husband where it once was,
Only to find his new girlfriend moved into the farmhouse.

Like ebb and flow of life filled with grief and compassion,
Love on farm meandered through arms of fate and passion.
Yet unwritten there was love's one more fateful decision:
Farm-girl walked off her land for good into wistful oblivion.
