Wish You Would Have Lived a Little More

I was walking down my memory lane,
Sitting vacantly looking through the window pane,
When some drops of rain just touched my face,
And I realized that none is there to embrace
That lone self inside me; and then,
Suddenly your face flashes in front of my eyes,
How after every downfall you made me rise,
How I crawled into your lap and fell asleep,
When there were a lot to take in that felt like a heap,
How you laughed with me when we‘d sing
Calmed me down with the story of your king,
How I loved the pancakes you used to make
And that veggies’ soup or that yummy rice cake,
You know what; you were my comfort pillow always
Now I miss you so much and that’s all it says,
Regret for not making it in time,
Seeing you for the last time,
Touching your shrunken face and hand,
That radiated beauty until the end,
I missed my chance to hold you once more,
Take you to the sandcastle I built on the shore,
Get you to meet my prince, who came riding a horse, as you ‘d say,
To take your little princess to the wonderland far away,
I won’t forget you, my lovely dear angel,
Still I look back at the doors when someone rings the bell,
And wonder if it would have been you,
I would have said one last time that how much I love you,
You can’t tell me to fill in the void you left,
Because you are irreplaceable granny,
May you always have a peaceful rest!
