Wisdom Tells Me
Wisdom tells me I may be the most precious gift of all,
That I am charged with keeping in pristine condition,
As one never knows when I need to be handed to another,
To make their day.
If rejected by the recipient I should be careful not to knock myself about,
Or immerse myself in cold water,
And always stay true to my function and form,
As I am a gift that needs to be presented many times,
For many different reasons.
I must be listening to some degree,
As I have outlived a number of other gifts,
And my wrapping is still intact,
Though I may not be making quite as many people's day as I used to.
