Winter's Wind
Winter's wind in the air
Golden russet colored leaves swirling everywhere
Barren branches wait and weep
For that white blanket from above
To warm them for their peaceful sleep
The days have grown shorter
And the nights are now long and lonely
As I sit by the fire I still have such fond memories
Sometimes a smile sometimes a tear
But always know you are near
Those foolish ones who don't understand
We will see each other again
You would never leave me this I know
Yet it wasn't your choice that made you go
The signs you left I didn't see
Yet they were so clear to all but me
I gave you an image of what you used to be
You gave me a character that now belongs to history
And so now I sit and remember and even smile
Knowing that this sadness will only be for a short while
For one day I too will wait for that peaceful sleep
And then once again we will meet
Until that day we now are apart
Your memory still lives in my heart
