Love Poem: Whispering Shadow

Whispering Shadow

Whispering shadow

Drenched darkness of loam
Under the crust of earth
Reassures sprout seedlings
Roots of emotions
Delve in heart for stream
Revealing no identity
For thorn or flower
For sweet or sour
For hatred or love!

You slammed your window panes every evening
And clumsily screened curtains the way
A bubbling spring
Dashing on rocks of dismay
An amorous intrusion
You wanted to keep at bay!
A lonesome gaze
By opaque hint of eyes
Might have splashed
Into the blue lagoon
That gladly reemerges
In your cozy solitude
Real enough
To implant irrevocable kiss on his heart
Between the pages of book you read
Behind the dressing mirror you glimpsed
On shining blade of cookery you used
You saw him
You pinched yourself
And you didn’t wake up
Until lugubrious shrill
Of mid-night bird
Walloped ripples of numbness
Flailing lure crept around
In oozing darkness
Out of invitingly open window
Like a white ghost!

In my obscurely fettered conscience
Crystals of conflict sparkled
Deep seated within
An amorphous mixture of
The obstinate lust for looking
And some old love!
