Love Poem: Where Are the Days

Where Are the Days

Where are the days, when we used to care and love one another?
Where are the days, when girls had respect and never back-chatted their mothers?
Where are the days, when boys looked up to their fathers?
What happened to Ubuntu – our families from other mothers?
What changed you? Don’t point fingers or look at others?
What happened to the love between sisters and brothers?
And family members are now suddenly turned into rivals –
could this be the true definition of survival?

Living in a world full of hate,
communities filled with gangsters – it’s no longer safe.
What’s happening to us? Look at our current state?
Could this be fate?
No! I refuse! It’s a mistake!
We can still change, it’s not too late,
there is still hope for heaven’s sake.
It must be a nightmare because it looks fake.
The choice is ours, we can make or break,
but remember, our future is at stake.

Love and care, just be kind.
Help those filled with anger and hate to change, help the blind.
Let’s stand together, we’ll surely bind.
Let’s look deep in our hearts for compassion – we’ll surely find
it if we use the most powerful tool we have, the mind.
Our future cannot be denied.
Things change, that we have to accept,
Things will never be the same and that’s a fact.
But does that mean we should lose our respect?
No! Now is the time: let us act.
