Love Poem: When the Moon Fades

When the Moon Fades

When The Moon fades

He sits under the fading moonlight
Helplessly staring at the
Menacing sliding of unforgiving clouds
As they slowly swallow the gentle moon
She is the moon he never saw
The moon he never knew
Creeping stars are fading
It is raining in his heart
He traded the message of dawn
For a twilights’ remembrance
He rubs his tear stained eyes
As a wind of regret brushes hard
Against his will to forgive himself
For never hearing the echo in her voice
For not kneeling low enough
To hear her footsteps
For not looking close enough
To see her tears
For not hearing her screams
In the midst of her laughter
Passions he missed in her last kiss
Defining steps he missed in her last dance
How was it possible to see beyond?
With a love so bargaining and less of will
Legend of strength and elegance she was
Always a fighter, woman of substance
Fountain of love, sea of compassion
Never shaken by malicious claws of past
That noxiously snared her winsome soul
Even now the sky spells her name
The dynamites of her vibrant giggles
Ignites the stuck pieces of her memory
The blurred flash backs of unsung melodies
The ever wanting shadows of her image
That lay still in the walls of his heart
She was a portrait of death in his life
A sleeping beauty, she lays eternally
The blushing bride is past
He has fallen in love with her
She is a trail of fallen petals
The roses will never grow
She now lives in him
He once lived in her
She is the best that he had
The best there will ever be
