When the Loss of a Dear One

When the loss of a dear one
makes you cry opening a photo album...
seeing a lovely face that was
the center of your universe,
a sun ever-shining through rainy days
that would make roses bloom:
there are no truths to hide when one is alone!

All you had left was the last ounce of courage
to keep on living and pushing forward without restraint;
when the road you drove on was bumpy, not flat...
the horse pulled it with force, but soon broke
down diverging from its course and causing doubt;
a stagecoach driver would have pulled the reins
and told him where to go to avoid the orphanage!

When the loss of a dear one leaves
a tremendous void in your existence,
and you try to replace it with prayers,
seldom holding tears back wiping them
with your fingers to touch their bitterness,
tasting the sweetness that makes them sparkle
and the frightening shadows that make tremble!

A mother is dearer than a father,
she nurtures you since birth and teaches you truths,
giving you tenderness and all that completes life;
losing those two is too painful to bear,
you would love to be held in those arms
and become smaller to feel their love bigger
than their smiles, more radiant than sunshine...
who values them more than a gem awaiting on time!
