When Once of Wandered Mind

my heads old eyes are flicking shut
all saw ,been seen before
my leathered skins last taste of lust
a taste that screams of more
my ears fall deaf when cloaked in love
a cloak im yet to find
my heart back then was full of trust
when once of wandered mind.

the hours of time seep bye like sand
and the days lead not too night
a whisky jar to steady my hand
that keeps me still to write
a poisoned pen to twist the fate
of the love i watch so blind
an opium pipe to ease the hate
when once of wandered mind.

this room of candle wax and words
with bottles as empty as i
a bed unslept and taps unturned
mark my wish to die
my loveless lips of biting words
prey hatred on the kind
i lost serenity along with her
when once of wandered mind

a frail old fool in fickle skin
double bents my soul and flesh
the hatred that consumes within
is the only sign of life thats left
i kneel beside your tomb of rest
and wish inside to climb
lay my head on your bony breast
when once of wandered mind
