Love Poem: When Love Was Innocent

When Love Was Innocent

When the fire of Autumn fills limbs of trees
And its light covering frost comes around
I remember that Summer's wet leaves
With your footprints fading in its soft ground
Distant season colored forever blue
A stark memory of love to remain
Caused by the lasting silhouette of you
Disappearing in the cold falling rain
This vision will stay, this love to lament
Paused by a dream of your eyes I still hold
Reliving the times when bodies were spent
When an innocent kiss crossed a threshold
She loved a young man from a commonplace
She said goodbye with a tender embrace
