Love Poem: What Legacy

What Legacy

What will matter in a hundred years,
To us, then past these earthen tears?
What will be our legacy,
Who will care? What will they see?

This journey we are on in life,
The joys, the tears, the current strife,
Will all be past, and all be done,
Ten decades past this current one.

What will we leave when earthen jars,
Are emptied of these souls of ours,
Though we dwell among the stars,
What legacy? Of love? Or wars?

Peace! They cried, the nations roared,
Will they unite in one accord,
Will friendships flail. Behind the veil,
Can love prevail,
Or will we fail.

A beating heart in earthen vase,
A common thread, a human race.
We hope, we care, we love, we share.
Send a ray, a hope, a flare,
In these days of deep despair.
Maybe somehow, and somewhere,
It will bloom in the world there
If presently, love will allow,
For them, one century from now.

For even when we're done and gone,
The world spins, time marches on,
What legacy? A world of clashes?
God forbid, it's not just ashes.
To them then, here's to love not hate,
Shine loves light, it's not too late.
