Weeping Willow

Weeping willow drop your tears
on the river rolling swift
I'll drink your pain and keep it near
though your sorrows cannot fix

You dipped your branches with a kiss
and tried to hold me passing by
with bended branch we tried to mix
I slipped through your willows with a sigh

I am water you the earth
when touched you thought us wed
for all our likeness you observed
yet could not travel the path I led

With rolling stones beneath
my ever fluent waters
I'll miss the shade of your willow tree
your shadow on my border

Weep not for me dear willow tree
nor think complete your not
your branches will hold a bird that sings
within the elements you are wrought

Even pain has beauty to bring
if you see with the eyes of the giver
for the willow is Abel to drink from a spring
though it mourns the rush of the river

Oh how I love that weeping willow
it's flowers bright as the morning sun
It's shade the comfort of a lovers gaze
but a river is destined to run

Quick and swift the current beckons
a marriage of water and wind
If only the willow could weep his last
accepting they can only be friends

I know the wind cannot be held
nor told which way to blow
but like the river a mighty force
within a world we must contend

Lo the story of water, earth and wind
broken hearts and a poets pen
if only I could write with words
your smile, your eyes bright again

For you to know my loves not gone
never will it be...
in time my beloved willow
you'll hear loves song and sing

So weep if weep you must to grieve
but know sweet willow the need...
it's not the depth this river seeks
your deserving of more than me

No day will pass each landscape new
wherever this river travels
when I will fail to think of you
and the love we knew so fragile

(Written for someone I care about deeply)
