We Never Lived Without Love

There's a miners hat on the mantle
There's a pair of boots by the door
His old lunch pail, ain't ever failed
To pull a 16 hour tour

While we lived paycheck to paycheck
The thing we were most proud of
Though our house was small, we all got along
Cause we never lived without love

We never lived without love
And whenever times got rough
If push came to shove, he was plain tough
We never lived without love

After 30 years in the coal mine
He lost more than one or two friends
His back was sore and in 54
He put his retirement in

Though he never owned a mansion
It didn't matter because
The lessons he taught, the way that he fought
We never did without love

Daddy's back was shot by his 50's
His lungs were black from the coal
But in his final words he told us
I'll always love you so

We never lived without love
Or the blessings from above
The words on his grave, still read to this day
Here lies a man full of love

We never lived without love
