Love Poem: Warning Flashes

Warning Flashes

Lightning strikes without a
warning,
Unable to cause the heart to
pound,
A word, a touch, have sped the
pulse,
While violence rages all
around.

The bird has learned a song it
heard,
While passing through the
storm,
Familiar strains, unsung by
her,
Well up within the tiny form.

Can time protect the youthful
brow,
As it takes on the years of
care,
Can anger quell it's passionate
song,
And leave it dying there?

The moments of colour amid
the grey,
Flash wildly as memories
around her fly,
Will regret forever the cadence
be,
Love marches to as years go
by?
