Love Poem: Waking Up

Waking Up

Enough to drive anyone out of their mind,
The words you say that cut through like a knife,
The self absorbed attitude, your egotistical ways,
All that matters is what you have to say,
You use control to stay in control,
You honestly can't help it... you really don't know,
This rollercoaster ride that you call your life,
Watching you hold back the fear that you hide,
Every day I try to put into perspective,
That you are worth it and you really can't help it,
I have walked through your fire time and time again,
I'm untouched, protected.. when will you understand,
I do not see life like you do,
I cannot live that way...I refuse,
I don't live for the money, the attention, the game,
In my heart and mind, I can walk away,
And still physically stand right by your side,
And put love first while you're still trying to hide,
You're abusing yourself when you put me down,
You honestly are wearing yourself out,
I laugh because I know the truth,
I sit and shake my head at you,
When will you learn, when will you see,
What your living for is empty seeds,
You can attain everything..but in the end,
It will all turn to dust my friend,
You will have to face yourself and all of your feelings,
And all you will have wished for was love from the beginning,
And the love you let go..that should have come first,
Will be your unquenchable fire, your only thirst,
I will still hold my head high, and put your heart above mine,
Until you wake up and open your eyes.
