Love Poem: Value Yourself

Value Yourself

There once was a time when I cared way too much,
About others opinions and what they thought,
I drowned out my own voice and followed the crowd,
For fear of acceptance, I never spoke out loud,
I kept my thoughts to myself, as if it didn't matter,
Who would care enough to listen, and if they didn't I would feel shattered,
That was a time when I couldn't see,
Or value myself genuinely,
I stepped out of my comfort zone, and started to share,
And when I did, I had no idea how comfortable I was there,
I had to get hurt, I had to see,
I had to differenciate between fake and reality,
Who was really there and who was not,
Who really cared, and who just forgot,
And when I took this step, I shocked my own eyes,
But when I really took the time to think about it, it was no surprise,
I needed this time away to see,
To love myself and value me.
