Love Poem: Valentine's Day Long Ago

Valentine's Day Long Ago

In a favored local "watering hole"
On a Valentine's Day years ago,
Rosie and I went,
To see a small venue show

Tiny Tim of "TipToe Thru the Tulips" fame,
With a piano player,
With an opening comic's act,
Tiny's hair a tad grayer
Than his numerous appearances
With Johnny Carson
He'd survived many jeerances

His vibrato falsetto filled the room,
His songs of ages long gone,
I was surprised how good he really was,
Singing those songs anon

After his show he greeted all,
He was truely a sweet man,
I'd gone almost as a goof,
I was "far too cool" for this,
And now I'm glad I did go,
Would have been a pity for us to miss

This man, heart of gold,
From heights fallen hard,
"Miss Vicky" and a fickle crowd,
Made him play his last poor card

He's gone now, but if you know,
His wedding to "MIss Vicky"
On an old "Tonight Show"
Was one of the highest ratings
Winners, of old time
So this man who made
this ratings "win",
Died a broken man,
My God, what a sin.
