Up and Down My Mind
Up and down my mind today
Waited for a word or call
Holding my breath as each hour slipped on by
Seemed twice as long as an eternity
Every scenario ran through my mind
Though I tried not to worry
Up and down my mind today
A dull sun rose ever so nonchalant
Making its way slowly through heavy clouds
Was simply no peace to be found above
My somber heart too heavy
Up and down my mind today
Deep and dark shadows echoed of silence
The air eerily still that nothing moved
The sun drawing its arch across the sky
As breathless I watched and prayed
Up and down my mind today
A dull moon rising in a starless sky
Casting a dim light on its emptiness
Not a sound stirring in the heart of night
My soul rumbling with tremors
Up and down my mind all day
