Love Poem: Unspoken Need

Unspoken Need

Why does love collapse under what is said?
Drowning out affection's murmurs when it has stopped shouting.
Wanting terribly to see my look into your eyes as just an illusion.
Silence still toils to hasten our colorless exchange.
Deeper feelings made offended, are now tender -forced to tip toe.
Life stays subtle when I'm restless and resentful when I fail to recognize the lucidity of your tear drop's message.
It's unspoken and it needn't be. I've heard it, but none too often.
How you do say it with a smile,
it doesn't measure.
It can't be held…….and I don't want it if it stands blameless.
I think it, feel it, act it, but still it stands in your presence without worth.
I see you now, but only on the far off side of my thoughts.
The need shielding its efforts with doubting expectations.
When you're not loving me,
that's when I'll fake it.
And never will I face the end without adjusting my expression some to smile wide.
You gave your need away and forgot the words,
but still -I love you.
