Love Poem: Unraveling the Key

Unraveling the Key

Unraveling The Key

I painted on your shadow
A picture of your skin
Wandered in your darkness
To end your suffering

But the doors inside your mystery
Were basking in the sun
Drawing parallels to other dances
Of discovering The Key

The pages of your sorrow
Were left to be read by none
And the emptiness of our lives
Left this thread of love undone

Now the departed lay in hours of wishes
At the feet of our quiet summer
This is the ballet of those kisses
Where the forlorn reach out to us forever

Now you hide within a barb-ed cage
The incarceration of all my destiny
The trapping of the ragged days
Of discovering The Key

I became the smiling card cheat
To earn your lies
Knowing I would lose my heart beat
In the pretense of your eyes

As you discussed the debate of all
All you would do for love
How all worlds end seemed so small
In the face of love

Already you found me
Upward diving into the blue
Already released in me
Every molecule of you

Fool me beneath everything
Fool me for believing in possibility
And fool you for never unlocking
Unraveling The Key

And all this life has pondered another answer
But for buried words to devastate
Waited for the sustenance it would have found there
And drank instead the falsehood you now emancipate

Kate

All the years have by me flown
And for those hold us responsible
While I still hold your Key
To unraveling your mystery of the impossible
