Unforgivable
Love is what makes life livable...
(By Poet)
You broke my heart, weighing it down with lies
until it couldn't bare the weight of one more.
And I lost sight of the love in your eyes,
obscured by shadows that weren't there before.
Hope never wanted to believe the truth
as long as there was a chance doubt was wrong.
And I kept blaming the jitters of youth,
confident the bond we had, was still strong.
Friends warned; I was being played like a fool,
but I wasn't ready to abandon trust.
For I didn't believe you'd be so cruel,
as to exploit love to satisfy lust.
When lies poison what makes life livable,
it's more than wrong; it's unforgivable.
