Unending Quest

I wish I could find you. I feel you around. When I look to the sky, it points to the ground. Ground points to the sun, as it moves east to west. I’ve missed you again on this unending quest. You've grown alongside me, yet so far away. I follow your footsteps, but you never stay. My pursuit all these years has calloused my soles. When my body gives out my heart still patrols. Till one day around nightfall I thought up a plan. I changed my direction, on impulse, I ran. The moon seemed to follow. It silvered my path. I screamed and charged faster, eyes spilled salty wrath. I pushed more, I could smell the earth on your skin. On the curve of your back danced silken hair ends. The geography of your body, like mine, Cast soft rolling hills alabaster and fine. Out shot a warning of mortal weakness. My extremities locked like the lungs in my chest. I cried out from pain muscle fibers affray. With my lost momentum my encounter fades. My feet gave out beneath me. My body hit dirt. Was it really worth it to over exert? For a few words of love? Your hand on my face? Would you stand by my side in this awkward place? With my questions unanswered, I still feel you around. When I look to the sky it points to the ground. Though my body will break more and more every day, You can be assured I'm still walking your way.
