Under Love's Spell

It's seven here, yet there it's still five, she'll be getting off work about now. And my old computer whirls to life, it's the best my budget will allow. The screen bleeps as I check my email, my heart pounding, eager for our date. But I'm early; she's not online yet, so I log onto Skype and wait. My mind wanders back to our first chat when the wee hours melted into dawn. For, with cramped fingers and sleepy eyes, we failed to notice time rolling on. Ever since then, we talk every night, though thousands of miles divide our hearts. And I can't wait to see her again, when she smiles, my loneliness departs. I'm jarred by her message "Hi Babe," her romantic greeting transforms me. And instantly, we're under love's spell, as the miles dissolve to set us free. (Quatrain) 4/25/2017
