Unavoidable Side Effects

Life's tough, and pain is a part of it, but so is love; thus, balance is met. For the scale tips, according to how you measure the weight of each tear wept. Submissive to your reality, you suffer needlessly every night. For fear is but a phantom shadow that, once exposed, disappears from sight. Hope realigns confused scattered thoughts, erasing doubts so trust can survive. And imbues your heart with its magic, keeping daydreams secretly alive. Sadness suffered in the name of love infiltrates places the heart protects. And a world of sensations awaits, with unavoidable side effects. Numbing the pain of a broken heart time erases feelings of regret. And allows trust to rejuvenate, changing a solo to a duet. (Quatrain) 6/12/2016
