Love Poem: Two Who Met

Two Who Met

We met in the winter of our youth
unaware of what was to be
She made the world small
when I saw only her
and she saw only me

We danced in evenings of red skies
and starry nights
where we learned with fingers tenderly held
that our souls wore passion's fervor
as a sensual cloak
that gave a wondrous glimmer to the eyes
and framed the eternal shadows with our nakedness
to leave emotional boundaries burned into our heart
when each kiss yearned from hunger
as our lips became molten
and the trace of a smile came when our yearning was met
inviting the abandonment of our fears

Like roses in full bloom
our lover's fragrance floated on the breezes
as two who met danced with romance
until our rose petals fell slowly to Earth
swept away by time to become a harmony of memories
played on the strings of quiet reflection
that's heard as a recurring echo in my soul
