Two Graying Doves Make Music

two graying doves make music

they were sitting at a bar,
two graying doves
she kept looking,
he kept looking
she then asked him,
what's he looking at
what's cooking hon?
he had to think fast, real fast
he had to say something for his heart was a beating,
angels were playing his harp
and his horses were neighing, too
and ... let me tell you his horse, they were really neighing
and so eager to race out of their stables,
so eager, let me tell you
he responds, his hands shaking
he reminds himself to say something captivating to win her over
she then hears the horses in his voice, stampeding
so unique and cute
the stutter, blush,
she's turned on
by now she has horses neighing in her cache, too
he's having an effect on her
she hopes ... it stretches
he begins
I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
perfect, one and done
she seals him kiss, a promissory note
he smiles back, he was seasoned all along
.... they toast two graying doves transformed into two loving butterflies
they laugh as the walls in the bar begin to perspire
by now she's in Heaven on a crescent moon, singing,
dreaming about being high a top a tree,
sliding down. She stops. She grabs his hand,
before it's too late.
