Love Poem: Twilight

Twilight

As black trees stand
Against the fading light,
I view the lengthening
Shadows of the night.
In the quiet village
The lamps begin to blaze
As families gather together
At the close of their days.
As the sun sinks down,
Night creatures begin their calling;
Their songs fill my ears
Even as night is falling.
The sky grows dark;
Stars appear and begin to shine.
I stand close to her,
Holding her hand in mine.
As we gaze at the heavens,
Watching the stars above,
I kiss her deeply
And give her my love.
Then we settle into bed
For peace and rest.
Of all the hours of the day
I love twilight time the best.
