Love Poem: Truth Hurts, Love Also

Truth Hurts, Love Also

Are you a soul afraid of pain, well, love hurts, truth also!
It's not like you can run away, besides where would you go,
That's any better than, in fact, the place where you're a guest?
Explosions sometimes rock the scene, when feelings get suppressed.

We cannot own another's heart; YOUR truth won't win the day,
(The love you need must be a gift, it's always been that way,)
If you held sway, you'd quickly tire, of no surprises, April frost,
Or Indian summer, past first snow, the best love damn's the cost!

To give your love a chance to grow, respect your truth, embrace your pain,
Though logic quails before a storm, you've everything to gain,
Just take her hand and face together what might be your end,
With dawn, you'll find the worst has past and truly have a friend.

You've known it's true! Each day's a gift, and not in our control.
Dark always comes, but with the dawn, God's rainbow greets the soul,
Reminding us, we're not alone, though shame might that disguise,
But take your courage, face the wind! Look! Love shines in her eyes!
