Love Poem: Trust

Trust

Building many walls along the way,
So no one can lead your heart and mind astray.
Feeling anguish over the past,
has taught you to walk a very narrow path.
Questioning everything that meets your eyes.
Avoiding the wrath when the trust dies.

Trust, Where did it go?
I don't know?
Once you're hurt too many times,
it leaves you unable to grow.
Overly cautious of everyone you know.
Distrust overshadowed what is true.

Trust in the love between me and you?
Trust, to bring out vulnerabilities,
to expose my innermost self.
To trust in me more than anyone else.
to trust friendship, when all it's ever did was let me down.
Trust in people how?

They're never there in your time of need.
The foundations of distrust have planted its seed.
Behind my walls, I built for me.
How can I break these walls that were made over time?
And trust in god that I will be fine?

How, when distrust overshadowed the truth.
As I got older, my heart grew colder,
from all the years of abuse.
Pain never resolved,
the love that dissolved.
Clouding what I once knew with fears.
Feelings faded from blue to black,
All because trust is what we lacked over the years.
