Love Poem: Treasures Within

Treasures Within

Who could be knocking at my gate?
Tis hour for visiting much too late
I light my lamp to see who is there
Without doubt a merchant, rich,
With no regrets, there is no more room
Tis humble abode to capacity is full
For denial of admission, please pardon me
Within these walls the new lord resides
Who tends my gardens blissfully

Unkempt and bare, so long, it castle stood
‘Til my lord attained and staked his claim
“I am afraid, kind sir, I can not oblige”
Despite fine clothes and fragrant speech
I beg your departure, my lord awaits!
O, do withhold your bribe, sir! You are much too kind
Your diamonds and trinkets are no good here
The treasures within only I can perceive
My cup is full Don’t you see?
