Love Poem: To My Love

To My Love

MY LOVE, it was never your touch that sent my soul on fire,
the way you ignited my passion without ration to acquire.
Nor the way you gently tuck my silky hair behind my ear,
releasing all my debilitating anguish and troubling fear.
No, it was never those things that brought me true desire.

It was never those stars that lit up the eventide’s sky,
sending summersaults through my veins that made me cry.
The cosmos revealing each touch would bring me to my knees,
anticipation of the sensation of the midnight twilit breeze,
but I think those were the things that made me wonder why.

Could it have been your eyes that gazed deep into my essence?
Reminding me of my true self with the light of my luminescence.
I don’t think it was the pebbles surfacing the sands of the shore,
that made me realize your love and wail out for your ardor.
Maybe your spiritual awe that brings heartwarming quintessence.

MY LOVE, it was never the rippled reverie that made me realize,
our streamlet flowing into the sun setting in the western skies.
Nor was it the dew drop on a rose that quenched my thirst,
or healed my heart when I was tormented at my worst.
What was it that made the depth of our love materialize?

It was never the adoration and alleviation in your embrace,
making me understand the true meaning of God’s grace.
The fever with chills you always sent down my aching spine,
that made me comprehend that you were actually mine.
It may have been love’s intensity that I couldn’t replace.

Could it have been your wisdom that brought fortunate fate?
Or the way your knowledge of life could make me relate.
Maybe it was the gentle way you caressed me to sleep,
or your sweet tenderness that made me fall in too deep.
When did I realize we were the purity only God could create?

MY LOVE, these things have brought such joy to my existence,
yes, each moment has given me love without resistance.
But the one thing that you’ve bestowed onto my heart,
is something in this life that could never be torn apart.
It’s all the devotion you’ve given that created reminiscence.

Your loyalty to me has offered me a life of truth and beauty,
reminding me that our love is our definite sacred duty.
It’s been your vows sworn in sickness and in health,
no matter the fancy cars, diamonds or material wealth.
And so, MY LOVE, I deeply thank you for powerful sincerity.
