Love Poem: To Love Alone

To Love Alone

He who loves has been given no choice.
Why that person, why that moment,
Why lightening on a cloudless day?
Control lost in a moment, a word.

Love conquers like an unseen invasion.
A voice that must be heard and
skin that must be touched, a smile
that must be sought to ease the very
act of living.

Denial is a lake of empty words.
Struggle and the bonds grow tighter.
Distance an agony barely tolerated,
Defiance as sad as the caged canary.

For those who are loved in return
Surely the planets have aligned.
But for the one who loves alone
It seems only time will give relief
But the bruise will last forever.
