To Hold, Kiss Her Sweetly, Before I Die

To Hold, Kiss Her Sweetly, Before I Die

If life were little more than ink soaked verse,
Would I so loathe this darkness I so curse?
Could this lost heart reap more than fleeting praise,
Live in joy and not this deepest malaise?

What of she love may gift, fairer to hold
Than treasures won, stolen or ever sold?
Would any dearest cost be far too high
To hold, kiss her sweetly, before I die?

If life ever grants love, fair and so true
I'll fight the worst of the worst to hold you.
When darkness arrives on its hellish wheels
She, my love, will stop it coldest chills!

Tears in these happy eyes, I see her face
Tho' I have yet to win her in this race.
