Time Slipped Away
I’ve felt loneliness break my heart
while searching for my counterpart,
someone who’ll love me from the start.
Time slipped away!
In a myriad of places
amidst a thousand strange faces,
love has put me through my paces.
Games people play!
Hope is a coin squandered and spent
trying to relieve my torment,
disappointment, and discontent.
And still, I pray!
Dawn’s light pierces the heart of night;
a fledgling day will soon take flight,
and yet, love is nowhere in sight.
Another day!
