Love Poem: Thread of Silk

Thread of Silk

The spider made
A thread of silk
And soon after irrevokably
Was eaten by a bird

Now thing just hang
There like me
In an unretractablw world
My life a road
That goes no where
Because of that one
Capricious bird

And I could have
Tied up its wings
Until its flesh
Stank for the worms
But a man of dreams
Will always see beauty
Even in his sleep.
So I let you fly
To sing another day.

 I shall not
Behold you sing again
Unless the wind blows up
A song
From the emptiness
Of a motherless world.
Only remember
Spiders are not everything
Superstition says they are
And webs are not as malicious
As butterflies would make them be
My love dangles here
With no intent to trap
Or keep
A song that will not hum
In the silence of the soul
