Love Poem: Then My Love

Then My Love

Did not the promise of my life unto you pledge eternity
Within the scriptures of the pages of our love
Inscribed upon the parchment of this union
As we created the intimate, the divine, and the sensual

Did I not hold you in the palm of my hand
Raise my hand to my mouth
Swallow you whole
Did I not devour this love
This intimacy, this divine sensuality

Then my love
As pure as the connection of our spirit's wine
Did I not drink from the chalice of your soul
Lick my lips to savour it's elixir
It's life force

Did not the very banquet of your body
Become the food of my heart

Then my Love
As the end of days on earth stepped forward
As the breath exchanged between us
Every inhaled and exhaled breath of love
Did we not become reborn in Eden

Then my Love
Then
Did not the permanency of this bond ensure
Our love will last forever

As I take your hand
Raise it to my lips
My head bowed in honour of this love
Then my love
And Only then
Tell me you understood
