Love Poem: The Words You Used

The Words You Used

The words you used were far from true
Looking back I wished I knew

You pursued and gave the chase
But in the end put me in my place

You knew from the start just where you had me
It was written on my face for all to see

You said it first, I heard from you
I waited until I said I love you too

There was so much more so many a beautiful word
They were the best work of fiction I have ever heard

Everything you wanted all you had dreamed
I guess it was never as important as it seemed

Babies and houses, anything you could get
You said you wanted all of me, every last bit

Then came the accepted offer on your country place
You said you didn't want to go as tears rolled down your face

You said me not him is where you should be
I'll find a way out, just watch and see

Stay don't go, I begged and I pleaded
I am in love with you, you are all that I needed

Once more we made love in our stand of pine
We embraced teary eyed as you promised you were mine

To pass on true love you said you were a fool
In the end you wanted and I was just your tool

Which words were false and which were true
Which words did you mean, I wish I knew

So many beautiful things were said
"What if" will haunt me until I am dead

My words were true they were from the heart
I loved you with all from the very start

My life is in pieces, there is pain every day
I watch on social media as in your new place you frolic and play

If you meant what you said, then how true could they be
Because you are there, and it's not with me
