The Woman, The Boy and Me
Once upon a tear
A woman loved a boy.
The boy, not me I fear,
Had grown to be annoyed.
The boy had thought her pretty
Then did not after feeling the high
The woman, feeling self-pity,
Agreed, though that was a lie.
I, now eliciting hate,
Had loved her quite some time.
And as I prevaricate
I cannot ask her to be mine
She still loves the boy you see
But I love her ten times more.
And he knows her less than me
And he seems to have gotten bored.
I'd tell her if I had not known
She loves the dreadful boy.
Though it makes her perfect to the bone
To love the thing that made her his toy.
He feels a bliss indifference
She feels a pain untold.
I cry to be beneath them
And I cry her tears tenfold.
Once upon a tear
I loved her, she loved me
It is but a dream I fear
and there'll never be a "We"
Once upon a tear
