Love Poem: The Willow

The Willow

The Willow whispered to me tonight
“Tell me if you please, may I please hear of the one
Is she there and where in the world this night?”
Breathed the Willow to me beneath this shaded sun

So it was she sang in the space between us
Through the night and on into the spreading day
As I lay lingering in the night’s echoed cuss
Wondering of you and what could, should I say

She is out there in the beyond inside the blue
I know for I can hear the silent sweet melody
Falling gently in feather caresses of something new
Something true, something mocking me in parody

The Willow whispered to me tonight
“Tell me if you please, may I please hear of the one
Is she there and where in the world this night?”
Breathed the Willow to me beneath this shaded sun

Because you’re there inside these my eyes
Like you have never before been held in my soul
Laughing without a smile shading all our bonding ties
Screaming to me as I scream to you of this hole

Cupped one more time in the hands of the Angel
All I wish to see and never more lingering beyond a glance
And so it is that I reach out to stroke away the tears the fell
Lost within a moment born of this our last lingering chance

The Willow whispered to me tonight
“Tell me if you please, may I please hear of the one
Is she there and where in the world this night?”
Breathed the Willow to me beneath this shaded sun

Saccharine is little Rosemary sighing inside the light
She is there and into her arms I sigh when I fall
Coy is she the little rose petal maiden dancing across the night
Sing me away I sigh, carry me away I cry inside her eyes I stumble and stall

In those eyes I find my solace and my sanctuary
In that heart I find my soul and fancy drifting free
And this is where I wish to hide my eyes and mind so weary
Locked inside her arms and smile listening to the rolling of the sea

The Willow whispered to me tonight
“Tell me if you please, may I please hear of the one
Is she there and where in the world this night?”
Breathed the Willow to me beneath this shaded sun
