Love Poem: The Third Wish

The Third Wish

On a distant shore far away
I stumble on a bottle in the sand
Opened it up and free a genie
Three wishes I have at my command

I wished for fame and fortune
Living a life fit for the divine
But I hold on to that third wish
The wish you would be mine

What good is your sweet heart
If my love it does not feel
What good is your love
If by a wish it is not real

With gifts and offerings of love
I try each day to persuade
But my patience becomes impatient
For you turn each one away, away

The genie grows weary my time is thin
Soon my third wish will expire
On my knees I pour out my heart
But you just don't share the desire

Alone with the world at my feet
I have it all but remain unfulfilled
The longing for your love
Tempts the third wish to deal

Mr. Genie appears before me
He shakes his head and sighs
It is time to use the third wish
Ask it now to be realized

Wish one was for fame
The world you entertain
Wish two was for fortune
Treasures a hundred lifetimes can sustain

Wish three what will it be
The Third Wish you must decide
I closed my eyes and opened my heart
Am I too selfish to be denied

The world is in love with my smiling face
Fame and fortune is way too much fun
And now I have you forever by my side
Hey wishes aren't meant for the dumb
