The Tale of a Foe

Close your eyes
What do you see?
I see you
That's the calamity

A complex fun
Ends with woe
Little harm done
But a sensible foe

It can make a person happy
If only for a day
But then you get sad
When the feeling leads you astray

Gullible is the heart
And weak is the mind
It can make two part
If this is all you can find

Anyone can share it
It doesn't have to be found
It even nests in the wind
Where whispers can abound

So even if blind
Or if you can see
It is a predator
To you and me

Confusing a generation
Who want to be free
Blinding our hearts with
Bittersweet, equanimity
