The Suitor Charles Wood

He came to her home with one goal in mind.
Today he would ask for his true loves hand.
He wore his best to make an impression.
Carrying himself with a certain pride.

Today he would ask for his true loves hand.
Her father, a stern and powerful man.
Carrying himself with a certain pride.
The young man so nervous began to shake.

Her father a stern and powerful man.
He listened as his daughter's suitor spoke.
The young man so nervous began to shake.
His heart felt like it was about to burst.

He listened as his daughter's suitor spoke.
A great anger brewed from down deep inside.
His heart felt like it was about to burst.
His body tensed he wanted to attack!

A great anger brewed from down deep inside.
His lovely wife stepped in and held him back.
His body tensed he wanted to attack!
The young man stood firm, he held his resolve.

His lovely wife stepped in and held him back.
While his daughter looked the other way.
The young man stood firm he held his resolve.
In the end true love and courage prevailed.

He wore his best to make an impression.
Yet it was his spirit that won the day.
In the end true love and courage prevailed.
He came to her home with one goal in mind.
