The Rendezvous

“Emotions
These are for the weak ones
I’m strong
And about myself
I cannot be wrong”
So she said
And so she made him believe
He, who would always keep,
His heart, before his head
He was led
To think
That she could control
Her feelings
And all such silly things
He eventually agreed
Perhaps freed
Of needless worries
He went for the rendezvous
Heart aflutter
Mind at peace
Unsure of himself
But too sure of her
Got a smiling welcome
At her door
Incessant chatter
Men, morals and matter
Time to leave
He got up
But there lay the rub
She held him back
She, a little nervous
He taken aback,
When she turned him around
Not a sound
A deep, long silent kiss
A message
Not to be missed
Followed by
Moments spent
In each-other’s arms
Out poured
The pent-up love
And the
Hidden charms
Minutes passed.....
Too good to last
Then,
The cheerful goodbye
No half-hearted sigh
So what about
That supreme confidence
Whither and whence?
He asked, “You lied?”
She replied,
“It was not a rendezvous
With you,
But a meeting between
My feelings
And your ‘Desire’
So, there had to be
Crackling of embers
And the raging of fire."
