The Real Thing

We looked at one another so often, So deeply and completely, That the courage it took to stay in abusive relationships Became more uncooperative than the rain showers Who fall just at the moment a picnic is starting, Or the silence when all you’re wanting is music, laughter Or the dark when day seems like the wish you won’t ever Partake of – or the moment when a kiss becomes The bliss that never leaves your heart, your soul – not even for a Moment. That kiss becomes the spark for every creative thought, The glowing ember beneath the flames of hope, The coal that warms the darkness in the wounded soul That kiss becomes more than a kiss – more than bliss It becomes the reason that the heart believes The feeling that brings each moment its peace The quiet hidden away behind the truth… Truth is – I loved you from the moment our lips touched I loved you like I’ve never loved anyone before I loved you like I’ll never love another, like I’ll never love Unless you are the one the loving is for! The truth is – you claimed my heart the moment you thought You and me might – someday – be more than a kiss, More than the sweetest bliss – more than just a dream I miss You and me and that someday became more than a wish Together, we became the truth that would become the real thing!
