The Pursuit of Sincerity

In youth, I sought the glance of maidens fair,
Longing for their love, their gaze to share,
But they passed me by with naught but a fleeting look,
Leaving my heart yearning, my soul forsook.

Yet as I grew and widened my scope,
My friends stood by me, a guiding hope,
Their camaraderie, my growth impelling,
My character building, my prestige swelling.

And lo! Women now flock to me with ease,
Like bees to a flower, in search of sweet release,
But their love seems shallow, their hearts untrue,
I cannot tell who is genuine and who is but a passing view.

For in this sea of self-interest and greed,
Finding true love seems a most difficult deed,
I seek a virtuous woman, a heart sincere,
To love me for me, and hold my heart dear.

Thus, I continue to build my character and my soul,
And hope that one day true love shall make me whole,
For in my heart, I know a love that's pure,
Will find me one day, and forevermore endure.
