Love Poem: The Pair

The Pair

The pair went for a hike on the weekend
The weather so nice out for sun seekers
But after awhile the sun it did cower
Hinted volumes of showers
And hid behind clouds for some hours

The hikers out far they had wandered
And wondered if they’d hit a quandary
For if the clouds opened up
They certainly would be stuck
So they stood and considered their dumb luck

One hiker said I have an idea
You’re only in trouble if you believe it
Just change up your thinking
And start your eyes blinking
And the bad thoughts you’ll not think an inkling

So on up the path they continued
And enjoyed for some time this neat venue
However just at park closing
The clouds they were posing
And water gushed out as one hiker was proposing

Now the lady did love her Prince Charming
Instead of frowning she started smiling
She took him by the hand
Exclaimed who needs a band
And between the raindrops the two of them danced

By the time they danced out to the gate
No one was around but the ranger
He stood tapping his toe
Said I was waiting for you to show
I wanted to lock you in but the boss he said no

The hikers were too happy to mind it
For nothing could keep them from smiling
They said thank you sir
Hope you enjoy your dinn-er
Left together hand in hand like winners
