The Most Beautiful Thing Ever Seen

I had a dream, one night whilst I was sleeping,
Within my dream I had driven my car off the road.
As I gained my senses, I looked around me,
The passenger door open, looking into the valley below.

The valley was lush, green, a river wedged in two,
The largest expanse of land ever seen.
My senses regained, I heard the scream of my love,
She clutched for dear life to the end of the open door.

I reached out, with success I grabbed her hand,
Though try as I did, could not pull her back into the car.
She began to slip, I lost my hold on her,
She hung on with one hand to the door.

Her screams contorted her face, yet made no sound,
I sat still, embraced by the frightful scene.
Madness at last came over me, with ease,
I lowered myself until I hung by her side.

One hand clung to the door, the other pulled her close,
Time stood still, the earth ceased to turn.
We hung there, gazing youthfully into each other,
The air still, the vehicle, now secure.

Looking into the absence, I let go my grip on the car,
Our lips closed together, down into the valley we fell.
Two bodies embraced still as the green raced by,
We fell in silence, screamed past the hills and trees.

As our bodies continued to plunge, the sun shone on
And the valley remained, the most beautiful thing ever seen.
