The Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name

Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wilde
with ‘Bosie’ Lord Alfred was utterly beguiled
Falling from grace by the public defiled
Two years hard labour for playwright Oscar Wilde

A former shadow of himself in Reading gaol he languished
Penning 'De Profundis' for 'Bosie' Lord Alfred Douglas
Oscar now a broken man his life would never be the same
incarcerated for the love that dare not speak its name

(penned after watching a brilliant theatrical portrayal of The Trials of Oscar Wilde)
