The Lonely Teddy Bear

He sits atop the bedroom shelf all but forgotten
His eyes see the grown child that outgrew and forgot him
Nothing is as sad is a teddy bear without hugs
Especially one that is squishy full of love
He sighs so lonely denied the boy's play
Memories of a scared little boy that would hold him all day
At night they cuddle asleep in dreamland wonders
Now the boy has grown leaving poor teddy asunder
Day by day night after night teddy bear's lonely plight
Then one day a pretty girl smiles at teddy with delight
Can I have your old teddy bear to the boy she asks
For a kiss, you can take him the boy is crass
Pretty girl brings the lonely teddy bear home
Giving him to her baby brother to atone
For scolding him the other day
The lonely teddy bear has a new child to play
Her little brother grabbed the teddy bear so quick
Hugging him so hard if real teddy would be sick
A new boy for teddy to play and to care
She swore she saw the biggest smile on that old teddy bear
